Let the fanboys fight, 2016 Miata VS Mustang.

When it comes to 30 grand with a Mustang you're either getting a V8 in base trim or a Ecoboost with some options you want (assuming no one wants the V6 anymore). Getting 450hp(?) or even just 300hp while only paying 30 large is a good deal that no one could complain about.

On the other side you can get a Miata with virtually every option you want. Not to mention 200hp(?) in a car that weighs close to 1,500lbs less than the Mustang means it certainly isn't a slow-poke. I think it goes without saying that Mazda is also on a hot streak when it comes to styling, I'm excited for how it will look.

So what will it be Oppo?

I've had 2 MX-5s (2001 and 2012) and 5 Mustangs (1993, 2003, 2010, 2011, 2003) and it's no contest. I have 3 kids, back seat is necessary sometimes. Plus I LOVE the new look. Base V8 with a 6spd for me please.

I did the muscle car thing already(I had a challenger SRT8) and the sheer size and weight sucked the fun right out of it. I would probably go with the Miata this time around.

Ahh the kids thing kind of makes that an easy choice.

Personally I just want a manual and a convertible for my next car & I have no kids, the choice is easy for me.

I'll just say that the Mustang is no where near the giant pig the Challenger is. The Mustang is a good 500-700lbs lighter depending on trim. That's a huge difference.

V8 Mustang starts at 32k and Ecoboost with trackpack is 29k which is basically the absolute minimum. V6 doesn't have trackpack anymore.

With that out of the way I'd still be buying a base no frills ND Miata. 2200 lb car with skyactiv, gonna get some Emm Peee Gees son.

looks like the Mustang GT clocks in at 3704lbs and the chally was 4160lbs. not as huge of a difference but still a big difference of 456lbs.

The miata clocks in at 2480lbs. 1224lbs less than the mustang and a whopping 1680lbs less than the chally.

I'll still go for the Miata and enjoy getting twice the gas mileage.

And in my experience the Dodge just feels like a much bigger car, cuz it is. On the other hand I had a buddy who loved the Challenger cuz he couldn't get in and out of a Mustang comfortably. He was 6'5" and weighed about 300bls. So i guess there is a market for giant sports cars, giant people.

Definitely one of the cheapest manual, rwd, vert options out there. I loved driving the Miatas I had.
